Indigenous Youth Empowerment is focused on amplifying the voices of Indigenous youth by providing programs that celebrate their heritage, culture, and identity. The IYEP welcomes and supports Los Angeles county-based youth aged 12-26 years old from all backgrounds regardless of their ethnicity who are interested in reclaiming and deepening their connection to their Indigeneity. Through cultural education, academic tutoring, and leadership development, we help young people connect with their roots and gain the confidence to become advocates for their communities. These programs foster a deep sense of pride in their heritage, encouraging youth to honor traditional practices while also embracing the tools they need to succeed in today’s world.
By empowering Indigenous youth with leadership skills and opportunities for personal growth, we aim to create a future where they are not only strong in their cultural identity but also capable of driving positive change within their communities. Through community-building initiatives and cultural celebrations, we nurture a sense of belonging, resilience, and empowerment. Indigenous Youth Empowerment ensures that the next generation of leaders carries forward the strength, wisdom, and traditions of their ancestors, while shaping a brighter future for all.
Our program is designed to have an Indigenous Youth Advisory Council which is a core group of youth who are actively committed to sharing their voice to build out the Indigenous Youth Empowerment Program. If you are interested in joining the Council, please contact the Program Coordinator Alexandria, aybarra@sacredpath.org.
The Indigenous Youth Empowerment Programs host their workshops and meetings either virtually via Zoom or in person in LA County. To meet the needs of our youth, we determine which city to meet but we do have our LA office based in Long Beach.
Strengthening the voices of Indigenous youth through programs that celebrate heritage, leadership, personal growth, and academic excellence.
